ULTRA in Røyneberg Kindergarten
— Durability, hygiene, comfort and sustainability in focus
Modern daycare environments require materials that can withstand intensive daily use, frequent cleaning, and strict hygiene standards — without compromising comfort or aesthetics.
At Røyneberg Kindergarten in Norway, ULTRA has been selected for custom-built activity walls, where the material’s properties become an integrated part of the children’s everyday experience. Here, the architecture firm Dark Stavanger has created an environment where functionality and play merge — while the leather not only serves a practical purpose but also adds a tactile, sensory dimension to the space.
A material designed for high-traffic areas
ULTRA is developed for high-traffic environments. At Røyneberg Kindergarten, it fully meets the demands for durability and hygiene, while maintaining its aesthetic quality over time.
The naturally breathable surface of the leather adapts to both body and ambient temperature, ensuring a high level of comfort in daily use. At the same time, its tactile qualities introduce an important sensory dimension — an inviting surface that encourages touch, play, and immersion. This makes ULTRA more than just a durable solution; it becomes an active contributor to an environment where well-being, play, and learning are at the forefront.
Colours that create identity
Each section of the kindergarten has its own primary colour and corresponding palette. Selected shades from the ULTRA collection are integrated into the activity walls, helping define each space while creating a clear sense of identity and belonging for the children.
A responsible choice
The interior builds on the architecture’s forms and materiality, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The use of natural materials plays a central role in shaping this environment, providing both comfort and sensory stimulation. Within this palette, ULTRA leather adds tactile softness and subtle sensory appeal, working in harmony with surrounding natural surfaces such as wood and linoleum to enhance the overall spatial experience.
ULTRA is OEKO-TEX® certified and free from PFAS. With a carbon footprint of just 8.7 kg CO₂e per m², it combines high performance with documented environmental responsibility.
