Danish architect Soren Rose renovated every inch of this 6,000 square penthouse on Manhattan’s Park Avenue, including the rooftop, pool and glass pavilion. Infusing a New York state of mind with a curated sense of Nordic design, the project is Rose’s masterfully crafted answer to the owners’ request for a magnum opus.
A cool Scandinavian Vibe
Natural materials start with the Verde Alpi marble wall which extends up to the roof, sourced from the same quarry as Mies Van der Rohe’s used for his legendary Barcelona Pavilion. Dinesen wood from Denmark, aligned with the pale colour palette to give the space a cool Scandinavian vibe.
The Swan™ sofa and Swan™ chair
Add to that our leather crafted on iconic classics from Fritz Hansen, such as the Swan™ sofa and Swan™ chair by Arne Jacobsen, as well as PK22™ chairs by Poul Kjærholm. Don’t miss the tiny ‘weed’ sculpture by Tony Matelli growing alongside the stairs. It’s a visual joke between Rose’s studio and the owners alluding to the five years it took to complete the project.
