Located on a hillside north of Barcelona lies The Cabrils Hillside Home. With a focus on creating a natural and comfortable flow through the space, the home feels light and simple. The Danish architecture and design studio, Norm Architects, renowned for their refined minimalistic aesthetic, completed the interior refurbishment of this Spanish private residence.
Bespoke bench
Together with the Italian luxury footwear brand, Koio, they created a bespoke bench for the interior decoration – conceived in close collaboration with the Japanese furniture manufacturer Karimoku Furniture Inc. through their sub brand Karimoku Case Study. Elegantly placed in the space, the minimalistic bench stands out and blends in at the same time. It is the ideal place to pause, while putting on your shoes, but it can also serve as a storage area.
Featuring ROYAL NUBUCK
This special furniture piece is itself inviting to the eye, emphasizing both great craftmanship and natural materials, such as solid oak and a cushion with a smooth suede seat crafted in our ROYAL NUBUCK leather. This soft collection that exudes exclusivity gives a beautiful contrast to the wood. A combination of materials that complement each other in a harmonious way, as well as when they age.
The dark stained oak spline joints at each corner of the bench stems from Japanese furniture design, which refers to the background of Karimoku Furniture Inc. It is a detail that reinforces the construction where it is most vulnerable, while at the same time giving the bench a refined character.
