Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway | Sorensen Leather

Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway

Established in 1819 in the capital of Norway, the Oslo Stock Exchange (Oslo Børs in Norwegian) is the only regulated market for shares and securities trading in Norway, including equities, bonds, and exchange-traded products.

Mercury statue
For more than 100 years, an iconic bronze statue of the Ancient Roman Olympian god Mercury has been a part of the interior décor at the Oslo Stock Exchange. This to symbolize commerce, good fortune, and wealth.

Audo Copenhagen’s Merkur dining chair
Inspired by the statue’s name and symbolic references, the Merkur dining chairs within the building were originally designed for this prominent and historical place. A modern, yet timeless chair from Audo Copenhagen designed by the Oslo-based design studio Skogstad & Wærnes as a tribute to the previous furniture, namely fiddle back chairs captured in historic photographs of the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Crafted with our SHADE leather
Reflecting the Nordic design heritage with a focus on handicraft, honest joinery and transparent construction, The Merkur Dining Chair is made of solid wood, and upholstered in our SHADE collection to add an extra dimension of comfort.

SHADE is a soft and versatile leather collection that will develop a lovely natural patina over time. It echoes the innate beauty of earthy colours which make it ideal for combining with other natural materials, such as wood, stones and tiles.
